Flat-woven rug in textures of gray, blue and natural
Wilmington, Del. – New Moon Rugs is adding a new and permanent category to its line. Traditionally a custom-order only product, flat-weaves are now an everyday fixture in the company’s mix.
“While we’ve always had the capability to create flat weave rugs for clients, traditionally they have been bespoke products for design projects,” said Erika Kurtz, chief operating officer. “This is our foray into a proper, stand alone [flat-woven rug] collection.”
The program launches with 10 different patterns/weaves, each available in any of six different natural colors stemming from the un-dyed wools used in the construction of these rugs.
And true to the two-generation, family-run company’s credo, the new rugs are made “to the same ethical and quality standards as our Tibetan rugs.”
Kurtz continued: “Handmade from start to finish, no shortcuts, no compromises and always ethically sourced. With these designs, the focus is on natural wools and the beautiful variations in tone that make them so unique.
“We couldn’t be happier with how they have come out. Our goal was to create a sophisticated yet casual compliment to our more traditional Tibetan pieces, something that is woven with integrity, can work in a wide variety of settings, and feels great underfoot.”
Customization continues to be available as part of New Moon’s total flat-woven rug program, as does quick delivery.
“All of our flat-weaves are made to order in any size and usually come in within eight to 10 weeks, faster than most furniture orders,” Kurtz said.
Another added bonus: The flat-weaves are set to retail “at a more accessible price category” than New Moon’s hand-knotted rugs, “and so they can fit a wide variety of design projects with varied budgets.”
That said, the new flat-weave were created as an affordable extension of the company’s upstairs Textures collection of hand-knotted Tibetan rugs.
“These rugs have been in our collection for several years and are wonderful pile rugs that fit the same design ethos and natural, textural look, and are amazing companion pieces to the flat weave, in order to add variety and layers to a whole house look,” Kurtz summed.
