Sneak peek: Natiivo Austin releases new renderings – Curbed Austin

Natiivo, the high-rise condo-hotel building under construction in the Rainey Street district, today released new interior renderings in conjunction with the opening of its sales gallery at Fourth and Lavaca Streets. The 33-story tower, located at 48 East Avenue, will have 249 residential units with a twist: All come with full amenities, furniture, and hotel licensing and can be offered as short-term rentals, with building management providing hotel-like services and amenities. The NGD Homesharing chain, which Natiivo belongs to, announced the Austin groundbreaking in June, and construction began in August.

Austin-based STG Design is architect on the project, and New York-based INC Architecture and Design is responsible for the interiors. The sales gallery showcases a three-dimensional physical model of the building, which features a rippling metal art wall, a dynamic window pattern, inset wood veneer, and a waterfall-like trellis capping the building—all “abstractions of natural forms engaging an orthogonal ‘city grid,’ according to a Natiivo press release.

Fitting within that that grid was “one of the more interesting aspects of the project,” said STG Design principal Jim Stephenson, noting the “architectural challenge associated with designing a hotel this complex on such a small infill site.” Site constraints “led to an innovative massing concept that more equitably distributed green space, recreational amenities and social gathering areas throughout the building,” he added. “Our design philosophy explored the interplay between Austin’s urban environment and its natural surroundings.”

While the building is under construction, the sales gallery displays some of the hand-selected fixtures, interiors, and locally-sourced pieces that will characterize the building’s interior spaces when completed.

Buda-based furniture design shop Mockingbird Made created bespoke pieces of hardwood and metal, including banquette tables, the reception desk, and bookshelves, specifically for Natiivo. Art pieces including work such as Lagos, by Austin artist Sophia Sanz De Pascuale, and A neon piece by ION Art spells out the Natiivo name in gold.

“We have carefully selected local muralists, weavers, ceramicists, craftsmen, and artists to be featured throughout to ensure Natiivo truly reflects Austin’s creative community,” said Adam Rolston, managing partner and creative director at INC.

Natiivo will feature studio apartments as well as one- and two-bedroom units, with sales prices starting around $500,000.

The project is being co-developed by locally based Pearlstone Partners and Newgard Development. Additional project partners include: AECOM Hunt, Buie and Company., Cardno Civil and Environmental Consultants, DKC, DWG., Jackson Walker, Jordan and Skala Engineers, and MOD Intelechy. Natiivo Austin is set to open in 2021.
