Aviator, home of aeronautical innovations, unveils new look Sky Bar – Hospitality & Catering News

Aviator, the luxury independent hotel located just outside London in Farnborough, has unveiled its refurbished Sky Bar. Following substantial investment, the new-look Sky Bar, with new furniture, lighting and carpet installed by London-based interior design partners, Interiors of Chiswick is now open.

Overlooking stunning views of the neighbouring private airport runway, Aviator’s Sky Bar serves guests afternoon tea by day while by night it transforms into a stylish cocktail bar where the hotel’s resident mixologists concoct their creations.

The Sky Bar is a popular destination for corporate guests, the hotel’s event delegates as well as visitors from London and further afield.

Over the past 12 years, the hotel has invested in various development projects to keep the interiors looking and feeling as fresh and stylish as they were when the property opened, with the most recent enhancements being made to the Sky Bar.

Opened in 2008, Aviator was originally built on the site of a former RAF officer’s mess from the Ministry of Defence and was quickly transformed into one of the most bespoke hotels in Europe.

From the first powered flight by Samuel Cody in 1908 to the home of the Royal Aircraft Establishment, which pioneered many aeronautical innovations, including iconic aircraft such as the Spitfire, the Harrier Jump Jet and Concord, Farnborough occupies a rich aviation heritage and one that was reflected in the design of the hotel.

The architecture by Robin Partington, ensured it quickly became one of the most recognised landmarks in the area. Stylish and graceful, the external design complements the profiles of the private jets that frequent the airport. The soft flowing interiors with its imposing central staircase and rotunda were designed by the award winning Amanda Rosa to reflect the subtle curves and restrained elegance of the exterior.

Opened in the midst of the recession with a team of 80 employees, the business has grown significantly and is now a key employer in the local market employing over 220 team members across both Aviator and The Swan.

The business has gone from strength to strength, with two established dining outlets, a two AA Rosette Brasserie and an informal all-American restaurant, seven stylish event spaces and 169 contemporary yet comfortable bedrooms. Since opening, Aviator has also acquired The Swan gastropub, which it reopened in 2015 following a full refurbishment.
