when walking through the cobbled streets of geneva, travellers might become accustomed to the charming 18th century townhouses of the city but one in particular stands out for its highly personal innovation. despite being situated in a beautifully restored building, the uniqueness of the hamlet, geneva is not its architecture, it is its new model of accommodation. here, a collection of serviced apartments form a small, exclusive community for travellers – each one completed with furnishings by VITRA and ARTEK.

privately owned and family-run, the hamlet, geneva is like a child to husband and wife co-founders tara and christoph wondraczek. it offers 16 individually-designed apartments, each available to rent from one night to one year. the guests are welcomed into the wondraczek’s home as if it were their own, setting new standards in warmth, personality and luxury in lodgings.

the ground floor VITRA store
the ground floor is occupied by a VITRA store where guests and design lovers alike have the chance to purchase iconic pieces of furniture and interior accessories. some of the items on sale can be found throughout the rooms of the townhouse, and were selected in partnership with the brand’s in-house design team. the furnishings include jean prouvé work spaces, charles and ray eames dining areas, and jasper morrison coffee tables. the store also offers bespoke interior design services available thanks to renowned interior specialist and retail partner teo jakob.

the individual rooms range in size
the 16 apartments range in size from 40m² studios to 130m² two-bedroom units. with its oak parquet floors, large bay windows and elegant cornicing, the interiors appeal with their original 18th century grandeur. to compliment and push this into the modern era, the bedrooms all offer king beds with luxury bamboo mattresses and even a ‘pillow menu’ to choose from upon arrival. the bathrooms are fitted with walk-in showers, VOLA taps and aesop bathroom goodies.

the interiors are fitted with fully equipped kitchens
as well as the rooms, the hamlet, geneva features a collection of communal spaces designed to meet each guest’s needs. the first floor’s square is a 200m2 space at the heart of the home. as such, it is a relaxed hangout for all residents. there is also the epicerie bar that serves local delicacies. for peace and quiet, the library is dedicated with workspaces and sofas for studying, and can also be rented for meetings. lastly, the gallery space is the most versatile, available to be used for workshops and events, such as morning yoga and evening pilates for example.

the apartments are all furnished by VITRA and ARTEK
